Night Shift Leader - Southern FS, Inc. - Marion, IL
Salary Range: $16.50 -$18.00
Position Summary
The Night Shift Leader is responsible for supervising store operations during assigned shifts, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining store standards, and supporting team members. This position assists management by overseeing daily operations, handling customer concerns, and ensuring company policies and procedures are followed.
- Supervise, train and support store employees during assigned shifts
- Provide direction, coaching, and training to team members
- Ensure staff follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Assist with scheduling and shift coverage when needed as well as one day shift per week
- Provide outstanding customer service and ensure customers have a positive experience
- Address and resolve customer questions, concerns, or complaints professionally
- Maintain a clean, welcoming, and organized store environment, both inside and out
- Prepare fast food items according to the Health Dept and store standards when required
- Open and close the store according to company procedures
- Manage cash handling, register operations, and shift deposits
- Ensure correct pricing, promotion, and display of products to maximize profitability.
- Assist with receiving and stocking products, checking inventory for expiration dates, and ensuring timely replenishment.
- Adhere to company policies, including sales of regulated products and uniform standards.
- Attend employee meetings and collaborate with team members.
- Ensure shelves, coolers, and displays are fully stocked and properly rotated
- Ensure compliance with company policies and local/state regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and safety throughout the store
- Monitor for loss prevention and report any incidents to management
- Complete shift reports and required paperwork
- Communicate important updates to corporate management
- Assist with inventory counts and product ordering when necessary
- All other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous retail or convenience store experience preferred
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience is a plus
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable and dependable with strong attention to detail
- Ability to acquire and maintain a food service sanitation certification.
- Must be of legal age to sell alcohol and tobacco products.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to lift 21-50 lbs and occasionally work in varying weather conditions.
- Strong skills in communication, decision-making, customer focus, and collaboration.
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25–40 pounds
- Frequent walking, bending, and reaching
- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by store operations.
