What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortgage Processor position at Southern First Bank?
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compile income, asset, liability, and appraisal information.
- Maintain a good understanding of the different loan products, work with automated underwriting systems and be able to work with the lenders, investors and underwriters.
- Maintain up to date product and market changes and understand the impact the changes have on loan submissions.
- Work with the borrower during the loan process
- Responsible for scanning closed mortgage loans
- Responsible for answering Mortgage Originator’s phone if they are on the phone or away from their desk
- Order verifications, appraisals, title work, proof of insurance, payoffs, and other documents as needed
- Complete other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma with a minimum of 5 years of mortgage processing experience is required.
- College degree with banking and/or financial experience experience of 2 to 4 years is preferred.
- Knowledge on applicable computer software systems to include work processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
- Accurate typing, spelling and grammar skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Interpersonal skills to represent the Bank in a positive way in dealing with clients and other team members.
- Ability to adjust to change and a willingness to be a team player.
- Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to exercise judgment and make decisions within scope of authority.
- Ability to think and act quickly and to follow procedures.
WORK CONDITIONS
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time as position involves majority of time spent at desk and computer.
- Little to no travel required.
