Southern Environmental & Abatement is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Asbestos Abatement Technician to assist on an as-needed basis for residential and commercial restoration projects. Candidates must possess a current Asbestos Worker/Handler Certification and be experienced in proper asbestos containment, removal, and disposal procedures while maintaining compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Alabama state regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform asbestos abatement and remediation services as assigned
- Set up containment areas and operate negative air machines and decontamination equipment
- Safely remove, package, and dispose of asbestos-containing materials
- Follow all OSHA, EPA, and state asbestos regulations and company safety procedures
- Wear and maintain proper PPE and respiratory protection equipment
- Complete detailed cleaning and site decontamination procedures
- Assist with demolition and restoration preparation when needed
- Maintain clean and organized job sites
- Complete project documentation and communicate effectively with supervisors
Requirements
- Current Asbestos Worker/Handler Certification (required)
- Previous asbestos abatement experience preferred
- Ability to pass respirator fit testing
- Knowledge of asbestos safety procedures and OSHA regulations
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments
- Reliable transportation preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or with a team
Compensation
- Competitive hourly pay based on experience

Schedule
- As needed based on project volume
- Some evenings, weekends, or emergency response work may be required
Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
