Concrete Finisher/Laborer

Southern Development & Construction, Inc (SDC) is a leading underground site construction company seeking experienced Concrete finishers with EXPERIENCE in the installation of sidewalks, curb & gutter, trench curbs, handicap ramps.

We are looking for hard-working Concrete Finishers to join our team. The ideal candidate must have at least one year of concrete finisher experience. Our ideal candidate is proficient with industry tools. You also need to communicate effectively on a team. Because this job is physically demanding, you need to have good physical stamina, the endurance to work in all weather conditions, and the strength to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
• Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete such as curbs, sidewalks, roads, pads and ramps using a variety of hand and power tools.
• Pouring, smoothing and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float and screed. This includes handheld tools and power tool versions.
• Comply with all policies, procedures and safety requirements.
• Perform any other general duties as specified.
• Ability to read stakes and measure to curb ensuring concrete is being poured accurately

Requirements:

• Must have concrete Finisher experience
• Must have experience finishing curb, gutter, drains and ADA ramps.
• Must have knowledge on materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction.
• Must be willing to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Must follow all company and site rules and regulations.
• Employee will be required to long periods of time standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools.
• May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and leather work boots.
• Must have the ability to stand, crawl and kneel for long periods of time
• Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, varying temperatures, loud noises, etc.
