The Charge RN assists and directs the activities of the Medical-Surgical Inpatient unit to provide optimum care in accordance with established policies and procedures in addition to supervisory responsibilities. Charge RN is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned unit. Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with Southern Coos Health District standards of care. The Charge Nurse demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect. The Charge Nurse supervises staff RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and Unit Secretaries. The Charge RN is the primary decision maker on weekends and off shifts and has the responsibility for contacting the on-call administrative staff as indicated according to the nature of the challenge.
Skills, Knowledge, & Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Currently licensed as an RN in the State of Oregon.
- Have and maintain Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) / Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
- One year of Med-Surge nursing experience is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a drive to provide exceptional service.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication, and computer proficiency specifically in Microsoft Office and online software.
This is a Full-Time position that is eligible for benefits. * SCHHC pays the full employee-only amount for Health, Dental, Vision, and Basic Life & AD&D insurance. *
Employment with Southern Coos Hospital is contingent upon an acceptable pre-employment drug screening and background check.
