Concrete Superintendent
Position Summary
The Concrete Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all field operations related to cast-in-place structural concrete and foundation construction projects. This role provides leadership to field crews, coordinates daily jobsite activities, and ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications. The Superintendent maintains project schedules, quality standards, and customer expectations while serving as the primary point of contact on the job site. This position works closely with project management, contractors, inspectors, and field personnel to successfully complete projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate concrete crews, subcontractors, and field personnel.
- Plan and manage daily field operations, manpower, equipment, and material requirements.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and construction schedules to ensure proper execution.
- Oversee all aspects of cast-in-place structural concrete construction, including foundations, footings, pile caps, grade beams, walls, slabs, elevated decks, and other structural concrete elements.
- Coordinate formwork, reinforcing steel placement, embedded items, concrete placement, and finishing operations.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and jobsite requirements.
- Monitor project progress and maintain production schedules.
- Coordinate concrete pours, material deliveries, inspections, and testing activities.
- Communicate with project managers, general contractors, engineers, inspectors, and vendors.
- Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and scheduling challenges.
- Conduct jobsite inspections to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to project specifications.
- Maintain daily reports, jobsite documentation, communication with management, and other project records.
- Mentor and develop foremen and field employees.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, quality, and teamwork.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of concrete construction experience, with supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cast-in-place structural concrete construction, foundation systems, reinforcing steel, formwork, and concrete placement procedures.
- Experience managing foundation work including footings, pile caps, grade beams, slabs, and structural concrete elements.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and structural plans.
- Strong understanding of concrete quality control, placement methods, curing requirements, and finishing techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple crews and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
