Duties
- Operate state-of-the-art medical imaging equipment to perform high-quality breast ultrasounds and related diagnostic procedures.
- Accurately position patients, explain procedures clearly, and ensure their comfort throughout the imaging process.
- Apply aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during examinations, adhering to safety protocols.
- Analyze anatomy and physiology knowledge to identify abnormalities or areas requiring further investigation.
- Collaborate with radiologists, obstetricians/gynecologists (Ob/Gyn), and maternal-fetal medicine specialists to interpret imaging results effectively.
- Utilize Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) to store, retrieve, and manage imaging data securely.
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, findings, and patient interactions while ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards.
- Stay current with advancements in vascular technology diagnostics and women's health diagnostics to enhance imaging accuracy.
- Communicate clearly with patients regarding procedures, findings, and next steps, demonstrating excellent patient care skills.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sonographer specializing in breast imaging or related fields such as gynecology diagnostics or women's health diagnostics.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to breast and reproductive health.
- Proficiency in operating medical imaging equipment and picture archiving systems (PACS).
- Familiarity with vascular technology diagnostics and diagnostic radiology principles.
- Experience applying aseptic techniques within clinical settings to ensure patient safety.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare team members.
- Ability to interpret ultrasound images accurately and identify abnormalities requiring further evaluation.
- Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent credential preferred; relevant certifications in women's health or vascular technology are advantageous.
