Manager Site Projects- There are two positions available.

JOB SUMMARY:

Southern Nuclear Operating Company’s Fleet Projects organization provides leadership to deliver solutions to improve project delivery, plant performance, and increase regulatory margin. We are seeking an experienced individual for the Plant Farley Site Projects Manager position. The Site Projects Manager position provides strategic direction and is responsible for all phases of the project lifecycle from initiation through closure for the station’s major projects. This role also supports initiatives and priorities for the site and fleet. The Site Projects Manager is responsible for helping manage the projects capital portfolio, including recommendations and actions to balance the capital portfolio, continuous identification of project risks and opportunities, and communication of ongoing project efforts. The position provides leadership to ensure projects are safely executed on schedule, within authorized cost targets, with consideration of nuclear, personnel, and radiological safety. The Site Projects Manager is directly responsible for project management and is required to provide leadership, feedback, and direction to project managers and supporting team members where appropriate. The Site Projects Manager will also support implementation of projects with leadership and oversight of field activities as required. This position is a member of the Site Mid-level Management Team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills )

Education/Experience Preferences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline strongly preferred.
  • Current/previous Senior Reactor Operator license preferred.
  • Advanced degrees, Professional Engineer (PE) license, and other degrees/certifications will be considered based upon the candidate’s experience.
  • Project Management certification (PMP) is a plus.

Background/Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of Eight (8) years nuclear power experience in Engineering, Projects, Maintenance, Work Management, or Operations is required with Ten (10) years or more preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in a supervisor/manager position is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Build and sustain relationships across all levels of the organization including executive management and external stakeholders such as the NRC, INPO, etc.
  • Has a working knowledge of design, work management, and procurement processes.
  • Focus on understanding the business and leveraging that knowledge to partner with management to identify and monitor strategic, financial, operational and compliance risks, including emerging trends.
  • Apply excellent business acumen, leveraging analytical skills, to perform risk assessments, and develop/manage the capital portfolio.
  • Develop, support, and lead department/station initiatives.
  • Lead, through example, to develop a culture of continuous improvement including supporting efforts to attain and practice learnings from fleet and industry.
  • Hire, coach and manage a qualified staff, including performance management, goal setting, work prioritization and appropriate delegation of work assignments.
  • Participate in appropriate external organizations to obtain personal and professional training and development, as well as identify and implement leading practices within Fleet Projects.
  • The ability to solve problems and make sound judgments, based on experience and proper risk evaluation tools, to provide timely and appropriate resolutions to issues that might impact personnel safety, plant performance, budget, and project execution.
  • The ability to communicate issues and drive problem resolution through various levels of management.
  • Ability to effectively interface, build, and sustain relationships with other departments.
  • Working knowledge of plant operations, design engineering and maintenance practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

Selected candidate must live within 75 minutes of the SNC Emergency Operations Facility for emergency response availability.
