General Job Function:

Is an individual within the Medical Services organization that supports the drug and alcohol testing program, performed in accordance with the requirements of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations (10 CFR 26) and fleet FFD procedures. This position performs functions related to the drug and alcohol screening process, including (but not limited to) collecting specimens for pre-access, random, follow-up, for-cause and post-event screens, assisting with and/or conducting random and follow-up pool notifications, and appropriately documenting related information.

This position’s primary location will be at Vogtle 1-4 and will be required to support the various location across the Fleet as needed for outage in-processing and any other coverage that may be needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains strict adherence to FFD procedures and NRC regulations

Processes pre-access, for-causes, post-event, and random testing in accordance with regulations and procedures.

Performs random and follow up notification to donors’ supervisors/managers and maintain notification worksheet

Performs breathalyzer tests and understand concentration levels.

Reviews Chain of Custody Forms after collection to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Ensures and documents the maintenance and calibration of FFD equipment.

Creates and maintains FFD files in Empact

Maintains strict confidentiality and security of all FFD documentation and files.

Files paperwork in accordance with regulations and procedures.

Enter results and monitor results that are pending and ensure results are received within the regulation time period.

Interact with HHS Laboratory for test results

Ensures regulatory compliance with respect to the random list, safe periods, and drug and alcohol testing.

Provide education on the Behavior Observation Program

Follows bloodborne pathogen protocol (Urine and oral specimens)

Takes off-hours call, as requested by the Medical Services Supervisor

Prepares for audits and inspections

Cleaning FFD collection areas

Picks up supplies from warehouse/mailroom

Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Medical Services Supervisor/designee or Management.

Coordinate coverage for in-processing at the sites for upcoming outages, travel will be required.

Performs administrative work as assigned by Site Supervisors (filing, shredding, making copies of forms (FFD), cleaning work areas, marking FFD collection cups/CCF forms, answering phone, covering building for on-site/off-site meetings)

Perform peer review on all FFD files.

Performing weekly and monthly reports as needed.

Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:

Education Level – Minimum Requirement:

High School or GED

Years of Experience:

1-3 years medical/FFD or related experience, preferred.

Professional Qualifications:

Ability to be trained as breath alcohol and urine specimen collector; able to take off-hours call

Skills and Competencies:

Previous medical/FFD experience, preferred; experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Demonstrated values (trustworthy, reliable, honest, integrity, responsible, accountable, and confidentiality); Excellent verbal and written communication skills (includes 3-part communication); Attention to detail; Motivated and innovative self-starter.

Interfaces in this position include vendors, attorneys, all levels of Company employees, Southern Company vendor managers, direct contact with various vendors that support disability management, all SNC medical consultants, SNC Medical Director and various physicians and physician's office staff.
