Position Overview
We’re seeking a dedicated, versatile Assistant Manager to help oversee daily operations at our pole and piling yard. This is a hands-on leadership role—ideal for someone who’s not afraid to get dirty, solve problems on the fly, and work alongside the crew while managing people, production, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing and coordinating day-to-day mill operations
- Supervise and motivate employees to ensure production goals and safety standards are met
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment as needed (e.g., loaders, forklifts, etc.)
- Perform general labor duties as necessary to support production flow
- Troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment when needed
- Oversee equipment maintenance schedules and assist with preventative maintenance
- Monitor inventory, production quality, and efficiency
- Support management in hiring, training, and developing team members
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork
Qualifications
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience (preferably in manufacturing, forestry, or construction industries)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and effectively
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Reliable, hardworking, and willing to perform any task necessary for success
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
