Job Description:
- Manage the Billing Department and a team of Medical Billers
- Collecting, posting and managing account payments.
- Submitting 1500 claims and UB04 claims and following up with insurance companies for payments or denials.
- Preparing and submitting clean claims to various insurance companies’ either, electronically or by paper.
- Answering questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
- Identifying and resolving patient billing complaints.
- Preparing, reviewing and sending patient statements
- Evaluating patient’s financial status and establishes budget payment plans.
- Following up and reporting status of delinquent accounts.
- Reviewing accounts for reassignment if necessary and making recommendations to the Billing Manager, also preparing information payment plans, hardship wavers, etc.
- Performing various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
- Participating in educational activities and attending monthly staff meetings.
- Maintaining strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
- Securing needed medical documentation required or requested by insurance carriers (private insurance authorization).
- Following up with insurance carriers on unpaid claims until claims are paid or proper closure is brought to the claim.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices in FQHC setting required (minimum 1-2 years of experience).
- Knowledge of PPO and Medicare Guidelines for timely filing required.
- Knowledge of medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices required.
- Knowledge of Billing and Procedures for different departments: Behavioral Health, OBGYN, Dental, Chiropractor, Cardiologist, Physical Therapy, etc. is a plus.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and employees.
- Must be well organized and detail-oriented.
- Billing And/or Collector Certification a plus.
- Experience in managing / supervising a team is desired.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
