We are seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable individual to serve in a hybrid role combining ophthalmic technician duties with medical scribing responsibilities. This position plays a vital role in both patient care and physician efficiency by supporting clinical workflows, documenting encounters in real time, and performing essential ophthalmic testing.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Scribe Duties
- Accurately and efficiently document patient encounters in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), including history, examination findings, assessments, and treatment plans as dictated by the physician.
- Track diagnostic test results, imaging, and lab work, ensuring all data is uploaded and linked to patient charts.
- Prepare visit summaries, referral letters, and follow-up instructions as directed by the physician.
- Anticipate physician needs during examinations and procedures to improve workflow.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times
Ophthalmic Technician Duties
- Conduct patient intake: record medical/ocular history, chief complaint, allergies, and current medications.
- Perform diagnostic testing such as:
- Visual acuity, color vision, refraction (manual or auto)
- Tonometry (applanation, iCare, or other methods)
- Visual fields, OCT, fundus photography, corneal topography, and A-scan/biometry
- Instill ophthalmic drops and prepare patients for dilation and procedures.
- Assist ophthalmologists with minor in-office procedures and surgeries as needed.
- Ensure exam rooms and equipment are cleaned, calibrated, and ready for use.
- Educate patients on medication use, treatment plans, surgical prep, and postoperative care instructions.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
