Become a Labor Relations, Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the consistent application of labor policies, procedures, and contractual agreements. The Labor Relations Advisor handles work environment investigations specific to represented employees from the initial investigation through the grievance process including any alternative dispute resolutions used to remedy the matters. In collaboration with Legal counsel, the Labor Relations Advisor works to resolve matters prior to arbitration or provides strategic support to Legal in arbitration.

Additionally, you’ll provide coaching and guidance to leaders throughout the organization and work with Union representatives in a collaborative interest-based model with the goal of resolving issues at the lowest possible level. The Labor Relations Advisor analyzes complex cases and situations in order to resolve and provide the appropriate recommendation(s) to address the issue(s). In addition, this position is responsible for work environment reviews, conflict resolution, and training on the corrective action process as applicable. There is also an extensive amount of Labor Relations related research using internal and external resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance with developing and implementing labor relations strategies which deliver and support business goals and objectives
  • Mediates conflicts between management and employees to maintain a harmonious workplace Handles complex or escalated investigations related to interpersonal conduct and policy violations Analyzes collective bargaining agreements and make recommendations for change
  • Ensures that the employee relations practices are consistent, fair, and aligned with company values and culture across all locations
  • Ensures proper assignment of labor relations matters and workload balancing to deliver effective support to the business
  • Leverages business, industry, current employee relations trends and rulings and internal metrics data to anticipate and prepare for potential employee relations problems and escalate issues to management in a timely manner
  • Handles complex or escalated investigations related to interpersonal conduct and policy violations
  • At the direction of the Law Department or Ethics, conducts thorough investigations into employee relations matters, including allegations of discrimination, harassment, and policy violation
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience in human resources for a unionized environment. Experience analyzing and interpreting collective bargaining agreements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with National Labor Relations Act compliance.
  • Experience conducting effective and sound investigations, negotiations, and conflict management.
  • Ability to conduct an effective and sound analysis, keeping in mind the organizational unit work environment, law and regulations and other pertinent factors in order to make appropriate recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate and provide information for all levels of the organization, from employee to the highest-level executives.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or Industrial Relations preferred.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP preferred.

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
