What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flower Bulb Cultivator position at Southern Bulb Company, Ltd.?
The flower bulb cultivator works under the direction of the president/owner of company to cultivate high end flower bulbs for retail sale, such as tulips, lilies, narcissus/daffodils, and caladiums. The flower bulb cultivator is responsible for planting flower bulbs; monitoring and maintaining soil quality through adding fertilizers and nutrients as necessary; applying pesticides as appropriate; irrigating plants and maintaining irrigation system; hand-weeding area around delicate bulbs; carefully harvesting bulbs at the appropriate time; and packaging, preserving, and shipping bulbs to retail customers. Flower bulb cultivators must be able to work long hours in extreme temperatures and humidity (over 100 degrees Fahrenheit and 100% humidity at times in Summer) and must be able to lift/carry 70 pounds.
