SBR (Southern Broadband Resources) needs a ground hand to support a directional drilling crew installing fiber conduit in Decatur, Illinois (Macon County). Local work, no travel.
No fiber experience required. If you want to learn directional drilling, this is where people learn it.
What you'll do:
- Handle drill rod, tooling and conduit
- Mix drilling fluid, manage spoils, run the vac
- Hand dig and pothole to expose existing utilities
- Set cones, signs and basic traffic control
- Help the locator track the drill head
- Load, unload and stage material
- Cleanup and restoration behind the crew
What we're looking for:
- Dependable — on site, on time, every day
- Able to work outdoors and lift heavy material all day
- Comfortable around heavy equipment
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the site
- Your own boots, PPE and basic hand tools
- Active business entity or sole-proprietor registration (1099 position)
Helpful but not required: construction or utility experience, OSHA 10, flagger certification, CDL.
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
