What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marine Service Technician position at Southern Boatworks LLC?
Southern Boatworks LLC is a growing full-service recreational shipyard in Kemah, TX seeking two experienced Marine Technicians to join our in-house technical team.
We work primarily on sportfish vessels, cruising yachts, and catamarans. This is not small outboard service work and not a contractor yard environment. All work is performed in-house to maintain professional standards and quality control.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 2 years experience working on larger vessels
- Strong marine electrical troubleshooting experience
- Understanding of ABYC-compliant installation practices
- Diesel engine service and repair experience
- Must provide your own tools
- Reliable transportation to Kemah, TX
Our technical department performs:
- Marine electrical diagnostics and electronics installs (Garmin, Simrad, etc.)
- Diesel engine service and repair
- Generator installation and service
- Seakeeper and Seakeeper Ride stabilization installs
- Running gear removal and replacement (shafts, props, propulsion components)
- Raw/seawater pump service
- Bow and stern thruster installation and repair
- Marine plumbing systems
- Troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Routine engine services (oil and impeller changes)

- Seakeeper Ride
- Yanmar Marine Engines
- FPT Marine Engines
- Nanni Marine Engines
- Northern Lights Generators

Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour
