Salary Range: $13.00 – $16.00 per hour
Employment Type: Full-Time, 10-month
Position Summary:
Southern Avenue Charter Elementary School is hiring a caring and dependable Head Start Teacher Assistant to support our Lead Teachers in the implementation of a high-quality early learning experience. The Teacher Assistant will play a vital role in promoting the development and well-being of our youngest scholars by helping create a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily activities that promote child development.

Assist in managing classroom routines, transitions, and behavior expectations.

Foster positive interactions with children to support social-emotional learning.

Help supervise indoor and outdoor play, ensuring children's safety at all times.

Assist with setting up learning materials and maintaining an orderly classroom.

Attend team meetings and participate in required training and professional development.

Maintain confidentiality and follow all Head Start and school policies.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or willingness to obtain is strongly preferred.

Previous experience working with preschool-aged children is highly desirable.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to take direction and work collaboratively in a team environment.

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
