Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, updating records, and verifying insurance information using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately to support diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring their comfort throughout clinical visits.
  • Perform clinical tasks including phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, wound dressing changes, and basic X-ray procedures under supervision.
  • Support physicians during procedures by handing instruments, maintaining sterile environments, and managing patient positioning.
  • Document all patient interactions thoroughly in EMR/EHR systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
  • Manage medical supplies inventory, sterilization processes, and maintain cleanliness of clinical areas to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, hospitals, urgent care, or outpatient clinics is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and medical terminology is essential.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems (Electronic Health Records) and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) management tools required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR is necessary to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Hands-on experience with phlebotomy, medication administration, X-ray procedures, and hospital or trauma center environments is preferred.
  • Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately across diverse populations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers, inpatient units like PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or outpatient clinics specializing in internal medicine or geriatrics.
