Job Summary: 

The Workforce Development Coordinator is within the SERDA planning division to support the Southeastern Entrepreneurial Network (SEEN) program. This role provides entry-level to mid-level coordination and administrative support to workforce and entrepreneurial initiatives. The coordinator will assist with connecting businesses to available resources, supporting industry partners, gathering basic labor market information, and helping implement SEEN program activities. This position serves as a point of support, not a primary liaison, between SEEN and the business community.


Duties / Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with day-to-day coordination of the Entrepreneurial Loan Fund (ELF), including scheduling, maintaining documentation, organizing files, and supporting monitoring activities.
  • Support coaching and mentorship activities for ELF participants by coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and tracking follow-up items.
  • Assist with outreach efforts to employers and targeted populations (veterans, individuals transitioning from public assistance, at-risk youth, offenders, etc.).
  • Provide administrative support to workforce development operational staff to help implement programs and ensure compliance with established federal and state guidelines.
  • Help identify potential funding opportunities by gathering basic information, preparing drafts, and assisting with grant documentation as assigned.
  • Support grant administration by collecting data, maintaining logs, preparing drafts of quarterly reports, conducting surveys, and assisting with required submissions.
  • Review basic policy or program documents and provide initial feedback or summaries for management review.
  • Assist in coordinating workshops, training sessions, and community meetings, including logistics, materials, sign-in sheets, and scheduling.
  • Track program activities and help monitor program progress by compiling information and reporting observations to management.
  • Serve as a support resource for partners and staff by answering routine questions, providing basic information, and directing technical inquiries to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with preparing training materials, handouts, and monitoring tools for management review and approval.
  • Compile and summarize data for internal reporting and assist with preparing drafts of written reports.
  • Help resolve routine questions or concerns and escalate issues to appropriate staff when needed.
  • Provide general administrative support such as scheduling, documentation, communications, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Other administrative duties as required and assigned


Required Skills / Abilities: 

  • Strong coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to support multiple projects and timelines.
  • Professional communication and strong customer service skills.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds; familiarity with vulnerable populations is helpful.
  • Ability to maintain an organized workspace, track tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Basic understanding of small business resources, community development, or interest in learning.
  • General knowledge of federal, state, and local procedures is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to gather information, maintain records, and assist with compiling data.
  • Able to work independently under general supervision and collaborate with a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Google Workspace, Zoom, Google Meet, and similar tools.


Education / Experience: 

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, marketing, communications or similar) or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the Utah labor market, economic development conditions, employer workforce needs and human resource rules and regulations
  • A minimum of 2 years of sales, marketing experience and public speaking skills
  • Knowledge of SERDA, Southeastern Utah,  community resources and services


Physical Requirements: 

  • Primarily office‐based work, with regular travel to project sites, city/county offices, and stakeholder meetings throughout Utah
  • Occasional evening or weekend meetings may be required (public hearings, workshops)
  • Some site conditions may include visiting construction or infrastructure improvement projects
  • Drug screen and background check will be completed upon hiring
