Title: Green River Cook / Custodian
Employment Status: Part Time (no benefits)
Annual Funding Allocation: $19
Reports To: Aging Program Manager
Job Summary:
Prepares meals in compliance with State and Federal regulations at the Green River Senior Center location. Maintains accurate records of meals served and supplies consumed. Must maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the work area and notify supervisors and managers of safety concerns.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Prepare meals for delivery and serving.
- Operate all kitchen equipment safely.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of food and supplies.
- Interpret written menus and meal plans.
- Unload and store food and supplies.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen and equipment after every meal as well as weekly custodial duties.
- Organize and maintain the kitchen to assure compliance with all relevant sanitation codes.
- Help with laundry (including loading/unloading machines, folding and putting away finished wash).
- Help with quarterly inventory of all food supplies.
- Cleans ovens, coolers and carriers
- Prepares reports on activities for supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Knowledgeable in kitchen routines and meal preparation
- Ability to follow directions and work without direct supervision
- Ability to interpret and amend recipes
- Ability to help seniors solve problems relating to the service

- Create open communication channels.
- Address specific instances by redirecting conversations or having private, direct follow-up conversations with the individuals involved to explain the negative impact of their actions.
Education / Experience:
- Experience in institutional food service preferred
- The position requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Must understand baking principles
- Experience working with seniors preferred
- Must maintain a Utah Food Handlers Permit within 30 days of hire
- Requires valid Utah driver license.
- Must never have been convicted of an alcohol or drug related moving violation.
Physical Requirements:
- Cook work is performed indoors in a clean climate controlled area.
- When talking one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly
- Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information
- Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary when operating equipment
- Must be able to lift 40lbs on a regular basis.
This is a part-time, non-benefitted position. Approximately 20-25 hours per week.
