Custodian (Day Shift)

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Southeastern Regional School District is seeking a full-time custodian for the day shift. The hours are Monday- Friday 5:30AM-2:00PM.

OUR STUDENTS: Southeastern is a diverse, multicultural vocational technical high school, which serves over 1700  students. The students balance the rigors of a complete academic course of studies with technical skill training in over 20 career majors. Our students are prepared for college, career, and/or additional technical training.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:

• Keeps buildings and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Shovels, plows, and sands walkways, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.
• Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are closed or open as appropriate and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
• Sweeps classrooms daily and dusts furniture as needed.
• Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when their condition requires it.
• Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily as needed.
• Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary.
• Keeps the building and grounds free from rubbish.
• Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
• Makes minor building repairs.
• Reports major repairs promptly to the Supervisor.
• Reports to Supervisor all motors and other mechanical equipment requiring scheduled servicing.
• Assumes responsibility before leaving, that all doors and windows are secure, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
• Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
• Moves furniture or equipment within the buildings as required for various activities and as directed by Supervisor.
• Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
• All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or the Supervisor of Custodians.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities;
• Reliability in attendance and maturity; or
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
• Minimum 3 years of experience.

• This position is classified as medium work, which means that you will be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• You will be standing, walking, twisting, bending, stooping, and reaching constantly throughout the work day.
• You must be able to perform a variety of gross and fine motor skills using your feet, legs, arms, hands, and fingers.
• You must possess the visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses, to perform the essential functions of the position, including the operation of tools, vehicles, and job-specific equipment.

Environmental Conditions: Subject to variations in environmental conditions, including exposure to inclement weather conditions and extremes in temperature.
