Chapter 74 Engineering Teacher (Vocational) SY 26-27

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Fulfills all duties and responsibilities contained in the contract between the Southeastern Regional School District Committee and the Southeastern Regional Teachers’ Association.
2. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated.
3. Implement daily lesson plans to teach skills required in the Engineering Technology field.
4. Provide immediate supervision to all students to ensure they safely and effectively operate the wide range of Engineering Technology tools and equipment.
5. Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student progress and comprehension.
6. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
7. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and responsive to the interests of the students.
8. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon the request of administrative personnel.
9. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of behavior.
10. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
11. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media and methodology.
12. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
13. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, keeps accurate and timely records of student achievement, and provides reports of student grades and progress as required.
14. Respects student confidentiality in all contact with any third party.
15. Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
16. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation and direction.
17. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides.
18. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence. 
19. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
20. Conveys a high standard of personal deportment and attire.  
21. Communicates with parents as needed to assure and encourage student progress.
22. Encourages communication and cooperation in all school areas / departments.
23. Plans and promotes integration activities.
24. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualified applicants must possess a Chapter 74 Engineering Technology license from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education or meet the requirements for licensure, which including:

• Three years of full-time employment experience directly related to Engineering Technology.
• Bachelor degree or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught.

In addition, candidates who are hired on a waiver must commit to taking and passing DESE-required exams within the first year of employment. These include:

• Passing score of at least 70% on the written and performance test in Engineering Technology.
• Achieve a passing score on the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test (VTLST).

REPORTS TO: 

Vocational Supervisor.

EVALUATION:  The Supervisor will evaluate performance of this position.                                          

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Full-time, school year, plus three days.

Salary : $54,061 - $104,787
