Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the oral surgeon during a variety of surgical procedures
- Prepare treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols
- Take dental x-rays of excellent, diagnostic quality
- Review patient Health History to ensure it is recorded accurately and completely
- Serve as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocol, and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
- Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after surgical treatment
- Provide patients with post-operative instructions for oral care following surgery or other oral treatment procedures, such as the placement of dental implants or extraction of third molars
- Record doctor notes and vital sign information during a surgical procedure or office consultation
- Perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
- 1 years of experience in an inpatient or outpatient surgical environment
- Experience in a hospital environment is highly preferred but oral surgery experience is not required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Consistently professional appearance and attitude
- Must be detail-oriented, punctual, and patient-care-focused
- Motivated to grow and learn new things
- High school diploma or equivalent
