SUMMARY
The Student Success Coordinator provides instructional leadership and operational support for student success and retention initiatives within the Learning Center. This position combines direct academic instruction, tutoring oversight, and co-requisite course teaching with administration of student success analytics systems, including Civitas.
The Coordinator teaches assigned co-requisite mathematics courses, provides direct tutoring support, delivers targeted academic interventions, and aligns instructional practices with institutional retention strategies. The position also supports data-informed decision-making related to student persistence, engagement, and completion by administering early-alert systems, monitoring student risk indicators, and collaborating with faculty, advisors, and campus partners to improve student outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching, Tutoring, and Academic Support:
- Teach assigned co-requisite mathematics courses in alignment with departmental learning outcomes and institutional academic standards.
- Deliver mastery-based instruction through formative assessment, skill evaluation, and structured feedback
- Provide direct tutoring support in mathematics and related subject areas as needed
- Offer individual and small-group academic interventions for students identified as academically at-risk
- Develop, implement, and refine instructional materials and technology-supported curriculum to enhance student learning
- Track, document, and report student attendance, academic progress, and grades through Canvas, Colleague Self Service, and other institutional systems
- Grade assignments and provide timely academic feedback to students and instructors
- Identify academic and non-academic barriers impacting student success and collaborate with campus partners to implement appropriate interventions
- Assist in researching, evaluating, and selecting effective assessment tools and instructional resources
- Contribute to alignment between co-requisite instruction, tutoring services, and institutional retention initiatives
- Assist in the co-supervision, training, and evaluation of student employees withing the Learning Center and approve time entries as assigned
Civitas Administration & Student Success Analytics:
- Serve as the primary administrator and campus point of contact for the Civitas student success platform
- Manage user roles, permissions, workflows, and system configurations within Civitas
- Monitor data feeds between the Student Information System and Civitas to ensure data accuracy and completeness
- Troubleshoot Civitas-related issues and coordinate with IT and Civitas support as needed
- Develop and maintain Civitas dashboards, reports, and analytics to support retention and student success initiatives
- Train faculty, advisors, and staff on effective use of Civitas tools, alerts, and student success workflows
Early Alert, Intervention, and Retention Initiatives:
- Coordinate campus-wide early-alert processes, including alert creation, routing, follow-up, and resolution
- Track and evaluate student engagement, academic risk indicators, and intervention outcomes
- Collaborate with academic departments, advising, tutoring, and student support services to ensure timely interventions
- Identify trends and risk factors impacting student success and retention
- Support the development, implementation, and assessment of targeted student success initiatives
Data Collection, Reporting, and Assessment:
- Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret student success and retention data
- Prepare internal reports for administrators, faculty, and committees related to student outcomes and engagement
- Assist with institutional reporting related to retention, persistence, and completion initiatives
- Support grant reporting and data requests related to student success efforts, as applicable
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and FERPA standards
Collaboration & Training:
- Collaborate with faculty, advisors, Learning Center staff, and other campus stakeholders to align student success efforts
- Provide training and documentation for Civitas usage, early-alert protocols, and best practices
- Serve as a resource for student success data interpretation and evidence-based decision-making
- Participate in campus committees and initiatives related to retention and student success
Learning Center & Operational Support:
- Support Learning Center student success initiatives through data analysis and coordination
- Assist in maintaining student success documentation, procedures, and training materials
- Report directly to the Director of Retention and Strategic Learning
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, English, education, student affairs, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in tutoring, student support services, or student success initiatives.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability and willingness to become proficient in Civitas, Colleague Self Service, Etrieve, and Canvas.
PREFERRED:
A master’s degree in a related field. Experience administering Civitas or similar student success platforms.
Experience working in higher education retention, advising, or learning support environments.
Knowledge of early-alert systems, student success analytics, and institutional reporting practices.
