SMEC is seeking a strong and diverse pool of applicants for the position of Student Services Director. The Student Services Director oversees the day-to-day operations, long-term planning, and delivery of student services for the Collaborative's school age programs. The Director provides leadership and guidance to staff, oversees contracted services, ensures compliance with MA DESE regulations, and collaborates with families, districts, and community partners. The Director ensures that all students receive high quality educational, behavioral, and therapeutic supports.This is a School Year Plus position (215 days) including a 5 week part-time summer program.
Minimum Masters degree in Special Education, or related field, required; at least five (5) years experience in a school setting with students with or without developmental disabilities preferred; at least three (3) years of administrative experience in a school setting preferred. Licensure in Special Education Administration required. SEI endorsement necessary.Benefits Eligible (Health, Dental, Life Insurances, 457b/403b). This position qualifies for the Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System (MTRS).
Local travel between programs is required to support students at different school buildings.Please submit resume, cover letter, copy of professional licensure, transcripts and three current letters of reference via SchoolSpring.Essential Duties: -Oversees the day to day operations of the Collaboratives school age programs, ensuring all programs operate safely, effectively, and in alignment with SMECs mission and standards.-Supervises the school staff team and assists them with implementing the students IEPs and IHCP/IBP goals and services.-Maintains the integrity of the programs and notifies the Executive Director of any emergencies, concerns, or issues that need resolution.-Ensures adequate supervision and coverage of students at all times during program hours.-Works as part of the IEP Team and participates in Team meetings.-Coordinates student referrals, placements and terminations with district representatives.-Oversees curriculum development and ensures that MA standards are linked to instruction.-Conduct evaluations for teachers, therapists, and clinicians, and oversee the evaluations of support staff, ensuring consistent and constructive feedback aligned with SMEC standards.-Implement staff discipline as necessary and manage student discipline in alignment with MA DESE regulations, ensuring that all actions are consistent with Collaborative policies and best practices.-Informs the Executive Director of any extended restraints, injuries, or other significant issues with staff or students.-Communicates with parents, LEA staff or outside agencies as needed.-Ensures that IEP documentation is completed and assists the LEA with maintaining appropriate timelines and implementation.-Oversee the delivery of contracted services and provide consultation services to district and Collaborative staff as needed.-Assists with state reporting requirements, including but not limited to, SCS, EPIMS, restraint and time out reporting.-Demonstrates ongoing professional growth and skills consistent with current research and practice in education through in-services, coursework, evaluations, and online courses.-Accurately completes documentation related to student incidents/injuries, physical intervention, and 51A reports and/or DPPC.-Oversees the entry, review and submission of required DESE data collection (SCS, EPIMs, etc.) -Prepares for successful DESE CPR and Mid-Cycle reviews, and maintains public day school documentation and licenses. -Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with all participating Administrators of Special Education and key school district personnel.-Completes all expected paperwork in a high quality manner within mandated/required timelines.-Shows respect and compassion for all members of the classroom and school environment including students, families, staff, and other community members.-Participates in all required Collaborative in-services as well as those recommended by supervisors.-Communicate all significant occurrences to the appropriate supervisor in a respectful and timely manner.-Supervise the development of new programs and services, including program design, budget preparation, staffing, and facilities logistics.-Collaborative with the Collaboratives Adult Services Program Director(s) to ensure smooth transitions for all students receiving transitional services as they turn 22.-Monitor all program expenditures, purchases, and inventory, including ordering and tracking materials as necessary and ensuring efficient use of resources.-Maintains a respectful relationship with parents and others involved with the students success.-Participates as an active member of the senior administrative team and implements the relevant strategic plan goals. -Maintains professional boundaries with parents and students; this includes refraining from communication with students/families outside of SMEC approved sources (i.e.- email; classroom cell phone).-Expected to read and adhere to all Employee Handbook policies.-Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.EOE
