Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and highly organized Theory Instructor with a Bachelor's Degree in Education to deliver classroom-based instruction for our South Carolina Board of Cosmetology-approved educational programs.
This unique instructional opportunity is designed for an educator who excels in academic teaching, curriculum delivery, student engagement, and adult learning methodologies.
This position focuses exclusively on THEORY instruction. Practical laboratory instruction, clinical services, and hands-on skills training are not primary responsibilities of this role.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver engaging, structured, and comprehensive theory instruction for Board of Cosmetology-approved programs, including Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Nail Technology, as assigned.
- Facilitate classroom learning using effective adult education strategies and diverse instructional methods.
- Teach foundational subjects such as anatomy and physiology, infection control, sanitation, chemistry, professional ethics, state laws and regulations, and other approved curriculum topics.
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with institutional syllabi, curriculum objectives, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Utilize educational technology, digital learning platforms, presentations, and interactive teaching strategies to enhance student learning.
- Administer written examinations, quizzes, assessments, and other measures of academic achievement.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, grades, student progress reports, and instructional documentation through the institution's learning management system.
- Prepare students for the theoretical components of applicable state licensing examinations.
- Collaborate with program instructors and academic leadership to ensure continuity between classroom theory and practical instruction.
- Foster an inclusive, professional, motivating, and academically rigorous classroom environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of FIVE (5) years of documented classroom teaching experience.
- Demonstrated experience in adult education is REQUIRED.
- Strong knowledge of instructional methodologies, classroom management, lesson planning, and student assessment.
- Experience developing and delivering structured, competency-based educational instruction.
- Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with educational technology, learning management systems, and digital instructional resources.
- Ability to teach diverse adult learners with varying academic backgrounds and learning styles.
- Appropriate professional licensure or instructor credentials as required by the South Carolina Board of Cosmetology for assigned instructional duties.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Current or previous experience teaching in a licensed cosmetology, esthetics, or nail technology school.
- Experience in postsecondary education, vocational education, or career and technical education.
- Experience preparing students for state licensing examinations.
- Familiarity with institutional accreditation standards and academic documentation.
- Experience with curriculum development, instructional assessment, and student retention strategies.
- Background in educational leadership, instructional coaching, or professional development.
