JOB TITLE: Marketing Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Marketing & Communications
DIVISION: Institutional Advancement
SUPERVISOR: Associate Director of Marketing
SALARY: $15/hour
I. PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Marketing Assistant serves to support the staff and goals of the office of marketing and communications by providing digital marketing assistance and website management, executing administrative tasks, and serving as the primary office liaison with other offices and outside vendors.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate internal office operations, including placing orders, managing budget tracking and reconciliation, overseeing office calendar, helping facilitate task management system, and assisting in meetings

Serve as primary office liaison with other seminary staff and outside vendors

Process communications work requests from other offices
-
Manage content edits and updates for primary websites

Work with other members of Marketing and Communications team to identify digital design needs and conceptualize visual elements for the website

Manage the various existing assets and ensure that information is current and consistent across all platforms and published websites

Update monthly website analytics reports
-
Assist with content management for marketing and recruiting through Slate CRM
-
Create, manage, and optimize Google Ads campaigns to promote seminary and college programs, events, and initiatives
-
Implement SEO best practices across website content to improve search engine visibility and rankings
-
Conduct keyword research and apply findings to content creation and website optimization strategies
-
Monitor and analyze website performance metrics through Google Analytics
-
Optimize content for both traditional search engines and emerging AI search inquiries
-
Work closely with other team members in a collaborative atmosphere
-
Assist the director and associate director as needed
III. OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Attend certain meetings with other internal offices or external clients to better understand projects and assist in the development and realization of marketing and communications strategies

Provide support for important campus events such as conferences, Southeastern Society meetings, and Board of Trustees meetings as needed
-
Manage the office’s phone, email, and interoffice and postal mail
-
Procure office’s travel and housing arrangements for the annual Southern Baptist Convention and other such events
-
Assist in planning and coordinating the shipment of materials for the Southern Baptist Convention and other such events
-
Maintain administrative files and other necessary records in the office
-
Handle check requests and purchase orders for the department and maintain financial records
-
Maintain and order an adequate amount of office supplies for the department
IV. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

V. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
-
Required
-
At least two years of training and/or experience, or other evidence of administrative skills
-
Good language and communication skills
-
Able to use all general office equipment and computer software
-
Ability to multi-task with several interruptions
-
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality in sensitive matters of Seminary business
-
Ability to work with content management systems and web design platforms including but not limited to WordPress and Squarespace
-
Must be efficient, organized, and able to execute tasks with minimal supervision
-
Familiarity with Google Ads platform, campaign setup, and optimization; SEO principles and best practices; and Google Analytics
-
Knowledge of keyword research tools and methodologies
-
Understanding of how to optimize content for both traditional search engines and AI search technologies
VI. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
-
Prepare purchase orders and check requests for incoming invoices or reimbursements for travel or other approved office expenditures
-
Reconcile monthly budget and expense reports for the office and its staff
VII. EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT

Communication with all other departments within the Seminary, including some faculty and most staff

Communication with outside vendors for miscellaneous projects

Communication with outside media as directed by the director
VIII. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Normal fitness as required for office duties
IX. WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
-
Some overtime may be required when trying to meet deadlines during the planning of the Southern Baptist Convention or during Southeastern Society/Board of Trustees meeting.
