Duties
- Perform detailed decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and reprocessing of surgical instruments, endoscopes, and other medical equipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Assemble, inspect, and package sterile instruments and devices, ensuring all items meet strict quality standards for safety and functionality.
- Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies and medical instruments, accurately tracking usage and replenishing stock to prevent shortages.
- Follow rigorous infection prevention management practices by adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control guidelines during all processing activities.
- Reprocess complex medical equipment such as endoscopes, ensuring thorough cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization to eliminate all microbial contamination.
- Maintain detailed documentation of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking logs, and quality assurance records to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to understand specific instrument requirements and provide timely support for surgical procedures.
Experience
- Proven experience in sterile processing or medical instrument reprocessing within a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy to accurately handle specialized surgical instruments and understand their functions.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical equipment operation, and sterilization techniques essential for effective processing.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management practices, including aseptic technique and healthcare infection control standards.
- Ability to operate sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, washers/decontaminators, and other sterilization equipment efficiently.
- Excellent organizational skills for inventory management and documentation accuracy.
- Certification in sterile processing or related fields is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training provided for motivated candidates eager to learn.
