POSITION SUMMARY:
The Site Director for the Southeast Ventura County YMCA’s Find My Genius program is a highly motivated individual who is passionate about closing the achievement gap in our community. The Site Director will have a keen focus on evaluating the efficacy of the program, providing measurable outcomes for the students.

The Site Director for the Southeast Ventura County YMCA’s Find My Genius program is a highly motivated individual who is passionate about closing the achievement gap in our community. The Site Director will be an influential and instructional leader, focusing on delivering a quality curriculum, a positive program culture, student success, and parent and community engagement. The Site Director will have a keen focus on evaluating the efficacy of the program, providing measurable outcomes for the students.
Essential Functions
- Plan and structure the whole FMG Day.
- Work with program director to interview and hire camp directors, instructional coaches, teachers, instructional assistants, and camp counselors.
- Train and work with the teachers, instructional coach, camp director, and camp counselors.
- Works with program director to decide what academic and enrichment materials need to be ordered.
- Works with program director to hold Parent Meeting before the program begins.
- Updates parent handbook to be given to all families at Parent Meeting.
- Responsible for opening FMG site every day.
- Responsible for walking FMG site daily to look for possible hazards. In charge of overall safety at site.
- Works with program director to set up a daily schedule for all staff (academic and enrichment).
- Runs morning community meetings.
- Visits FMG classrooms daily.
- Buys snacks for sites.
- Sends ou9t Weekly Updates to FMG parents and staff, communicates with FMG families as needed.
- Supervises recess.
- In charge of setting up an emergency plan that will be used at their site (should be posted in all classrooms and the office) - Also responsible for running disaster drills.
- In charge of behavior management of scholars during academic and enrichment time - Sets up a behavior management plan to be used at their site. Addresses behavior issues with scholars and parents (if needed).
- Sets up enrichment curriculum (before program begins).
- Communicates with staff re. Scholars, behavior issues, parent concerns.
- In charge of setting up Open House and graduation for their site.
- Site walkthrough with district personnel before program begins (decide on classrooms used, lunch area, restrooms, computers for testing, xeroxing, pick up and drop off).
- Holds site walkthrough for all staff the week before the program begins.
- A master’s degree in a related field or equivalent with five or more years of teaching experience
- Evidence of experience in site level leadership roles
- Knowledge of current curriculum applicable to the grade levels
- Knowledge of appropriate supervision and disciplinary procedures
- Ability to create a sustain a program culture that nurtures high expectations and a commitment to personal and academic excellence
- Ability to interact effectively and promote good working relationships with teachers, students, parents and the community
- An optimistic, energetic, tenacious and dynamic perspective
- Knowledge of school district funding sources available to support this program
- Ability to represent the Southeast Ventura County YMCA with responsible, mature judgment, tact and decisiveness
- CPR & First Aid certifications through a nationally recognized organization. Certifications must be maintained and current at all times
- Inspire confidence and maintain professional dignity at all times
- Committed to the goals of the program and approach
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and adjust and adapt instructional strategies swiftly given the short duration of summer programs
- Evidence of efficacy and willingness to be a team player
- Ability to use common office productivity software such as word processing, spreadsheets and email
- Ability to work independently, accurately and efficiently
