Position Summary
The Marketing Sales Development Representative (SDR) is responsible for generating qualified net new business opportunities for SERTG by identifying prospective organizations, initiating outbound conversations, qualifying business needs, and scheduling discovery meetings for the sales team. This role focuses heavily on disciplined outbound activity - cold calling, email outreach, social prospecting, event follow-up, referrals, and targeted campaigns - to build awareness and create sales-ready opportunities for managed IT, cybersecurity, compliance, cloud, communications, and infrastructure services.
The Marketing SDR is often the first human interaction a prospect has with SERTG. Success requires confidence, persistence, strong communication, accurate CRM habits, and the ability to translate technical services into clear business value. This position owns the top of the sales funnel and supports a smooth handoff to the Technology Consultant once a prospect is qualified.

Success Looks Like
- Consistent generation of qualified sales opportunities and discovery meetings
- Outbound activity is disciplined and balanced across calls, emails, social outreach, campaigns, events, and follow-up
- Prospects are accurately qualified based on business fit, need, authority, timing, and service alignment
- Appointment show rates and lead-to-opportunity conversion rates meet or exceed expectations
- CRM records, contact details, notes, tasks, dispositions, and next steps are complete and current
- Messaging clearly communicates SERTG's business value without overpromising technical outcomes
- Marketing and sales campaigns produce measurable engagement, meetings, and pipeline growth
- Technology Consultants receive organized handoffs with clear qualification notes and expectations
Key Responsibilities
Prospecting & Lead Generation
- Generate new conversations through cold calls, personalized emails, social outreach, referrals, networking, campaigns, and event follow-up
- Research target companies, industries, decision-makers, and trigger events that may create a technology or cybersecurity need
- Build and maintain prospect lists aligned with SERTG's ideal customer profile
- Follow up quickly and consistently with inbound inquiries and marketing-engaged prospects
Qualification & Appointment Setting
- Conduct initial conversations to understand business challenges, current IT support, cybersecurity concerns, compliance requirements, decision-making process, budget indicators, and timing
- Determine whether prospects meet established qualification criteria and are ready for a Technology Consultant
- Schedule qualified discovery meetings and confirm attendance through professional follow-up
- Disqualify or nurture prospects appropriately when timing or fit is not yet right
CRM & Pipeline Discipline
- Maintain accurate CRM records, contact information, activity logs, call outcomes, notes, lead stages, and next steps
- Use daily task queues and follow-up cadences to ensure no qualified prospect is lost
- Track individual activity, conversion rates, meetings scheduled, show rates, and sales-accepted opportunities
- Provide feedback on lead quality, objections, campaign messaging, and market response
Marketing & Sales Collaboration
- Support targeted email, social, event, referral, and vertical-market campaigns
- Partner with Technology Consultants to improve qualification standards, messaging, and handoff quality
- Participate in community events, trade shows, webinars, and networking activities as assigned
- Develop a practical understanding of SERTG services and explain their business value in clear, nontechnical language
Education & Experience
- 1 year of B2B sales development, appointment setting, lead generation, telemarketing, marketing, customer service, or related experience preferred
- Experience in MSP, SaaS, IT, cybersecurity, telecommunications, or technology is preferred but not required
- Demonstrated comfort with outbound calls, rejection, follow-up, and performance goals
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- CRM experience preferred; ConnectWise experience is a plus
- Ability to learn technical concepts and communicate business outcomes
- Strong organization, time management, attention to detail, and personal accountability
