Southeast Neurology and Pain Management is seeking a Medical Billing & Coding Specialist to join our growing team. Our company has locations in Tallahassee, FL, Panama City, FL and Thomasville, GA. Our billing team is located in our Thomasville location and processes claims for all 3 locations. This position will be responsible for timely and accurate claims processing for neurology and pain management clinical visits, procedures and surgeries, including preparing and submitting claims, resolving denials, and assisting patients with billing inquiries.

This full-time position offers a great 4-day workweek of Monday - Thursday 7:00am-5:00pm as well as a competitive salary and a generous benefits package. Additionally, there is room for upward career growth for candidates that excel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review schedules prior to date of service to ensure that all prior authorizations for office visits, procedures and medications have been completed along with all required documentation
- Complete extensive accounts receivables work, ensuring timely reimbursement
- Research and analyze claim denials and submit appeals where necessary; Resolve outstanding issues in a timely manner
- Check claim statuses regularly, confirm payments match fee schedules and communicate with insurance companies where necessary
- Obtain insurance eligibility and benefits information for all contracted insurance companies
- Communicate with patients regarding their insurance coverage, payments due and outstanding balances in a clear and professional manner
- Maintains excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills with physicians, providers, patients, and co-workers
Qualifications:
- High School graduate; College degree preferred
- Medical Coding Specialist (CPC, CCS)
- At least two years experience in medical billing
- Strong knowledge of ICD -10, CPT and HCPC codes using Medicare guidelines and proficiency in coding and CCI/bundling
- Advanced knowledge of medical and insurance terminology
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, HMO and commercial insurance guidelines and knowledge of Florida and Georgia workers compensation rules
- Proficient in EMR systems, preferably Athena
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret explanation of benefits; Strong understanding of private insurance rules and regulations
- Compliance with confidentiality and non-disclosure requirements of HIPAA
