DISPATCHER University Police DepartmentFull timePrimary Responsibilities Monitors, receives and directs routine and emergency telephone calls to the department, performing a variety of duties of a public service agencyMonitors, receives and transmits routine and emergency radio transmissions to fulfill requests for services and support of officers on dutyManages software-based multi-channel radio communications, Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES), and input data into a software- based dispatch and records management systemEnters and retrieves confidential computer records and disseminates information to appropriate personnelMonitors fire alarms, security cameras, and environmental alarmsPerforms various support duties related to dispatch functions, including record keeping, typing, filing, and logsOperates mass notification systems such as Regroup and Alertus and deploys the indoor/outdoor warning system (storm sirens)Provides logistical support to parking services, transit services, and other university service providers
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
High school diploma or GEDMULES certified or eligible for MULES certification within 6-months of employmentAbility to effectively operate dispatch technology; Experience in police dispatching a plusKnowledge of MSOfficeExcellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work all shifts, specifically the midnight shift, but also including day and evening shifts, weekends, Holidays, and during academic breaksAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionDemonstrated problem solving abilitiesDemonstrated experience with and understanding of customer service
