The Counselor provides assessment, treatment planning, individual and group counseling, and transitional support in alignment with clients’ treatment plans and state regulatory guidelines. This position documents services, participates in treatment team meetings, completes required trainings, represents the agency professionally in the community, and supports clients’ recovery and daily functioning through evidence-based practices.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake, screening, and comprehensive assessments within required timeframes to inform individualized treatment plans
- Develop, implement, and update client-centered treatment plans that reflect assessment findings and client progress
- Provide individual counseling, group counseling, family conferences, and educational groups focused on recovery and healthy decision-making
- Facilitate transitions and complete discharge/transition summaries, plans, and correspondence
- Participate in clinical staffing and treatment team meetings, offering case-relevant feedback and coordination
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation of all services in required formats and correct charting deficiencies as needed
- Meet Collaborative Service Goal (CSG) expectations and service provision standards
- Handle crisis situations and provide appropriate interventions and referrals
- Represent the agency professionally and maintain positive relationships with referral sources, clients, and coworkers
- Complete required training hours (ASAM-focused training in Missouri; Kansas-specific requirements as applicable) and participate in ongoing professional development
Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:
- Missouri: Master’s or bachelor’s degree in a human services field and/or certified/credentialed to provide services within scope of practice
- Hold one of the Qualified Addiction Professional credentials as defined by the Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc. (examples include CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, CCJP, RADC-P, RADC, CCDP, CCDP-D) OR hold Qualified Mental Health Professional credentials per MCB
- Kansas: Credentials as defined by the Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board (e.g., LAC or LCAC) or appropriate state board credentials if applicable
- Willingness to obtain additional state credentialing as required and to provide telehealth services
Additional Qualifications:
- Successful completion of background checks (criminal, driving, abuse/neglect, fingerprinting)
- Current driver’s license in state of residency, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance
- Completion of New Hire Orientation and required trainings (Relias) at hire and annually
- First Aid and CPR certification within three months of hire and maintained upon renewal
- Behavioral Management training within 30 days of employment (CPI for Residential; Peaceful Intervention or Verbal De-escalation for Outpatient)
- Achievement of 50-hour annual training requirement (Missouri only) where applicable
- Ability to establish rapport, employ effective counseling methods, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, and work collaboratively within program policies
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform duties in clinical and community settings, including sitting for documentation, standing and facilitating groups, and travel between sites as required
