K-5 Music Teacher

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive K-5 music curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes musical literacy.
• Create engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
• Teach fundamental musical concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, and music appreciation through various activities such as singing, playing instruments, and movement.
• Organize and lead school performances, concerts, and musical events, encouraging student participation and showcasing their talents.
• Assess and evaluate student progress, providing feedback and support to enhance their musical development.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate music into cross-curricular activities and support overall student learning.
• Maintain an organized and resourceful music classroom, including the care and upkeep of instruments and materials.
• Engage with parents and the community to promote the music program and encourage student involvement.
• Stay current with best practices in music education and participate in professional development opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification in Music Education for K-5.
• Proven experience teaching music to elementary-aged students, preferably in a classroom setting.
• Strong knowledge of music theory, vocal techniques, and instrumental instruction.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to create a positive and nurturing learning environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
• Proficiency in using technology and digital resources to enhance music instruction.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational trends in music education.
