Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities, ensuring that students are engaged and supported in their learning.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students who may require additional assistance, including those with diverse learning needs.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their academic and social goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other staff to create and maintain an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- Assist in the preparation and organization of instructional materials and resources.
- Help manage classroom behavior and implement positive behavior interventions to promote a respectful and productive learning atmosphere.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to supporting middle school students.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff, fostering strong relationships that support student growth and development.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the school administration to support the overall mission and goals of Southeast Middle School.
Requirements
- Educational Aide Permit from Ohio Department of Education and Workforce
- Previous experience working with middle school students or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Knowledge of diverse learning styles and strategies to support students with varying needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative and independence.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to support student learning.
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and equitable learning environment for all students.
- Certification or training in first aid and CPR is a plus.
