Assistant Transportation Supervisor

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our team as an Assistant Transportation Supervisor at the Southeast Bus Garage. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Transportation Supervisor in managing daily operations, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of passengers. You will assist in coordinating routes, supervising bus drivers, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations while promoting a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the daily scheduling and routing of bus services to ensure timely and efficient transportation for all passengers.
• Supervise and support bus drivers, providing guidance and addressing any operational concerns or issues that arise.
• Monitor and evaluate driver performance, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
• Collaborate with the Transportation Supervisor to develop and implement training programs for new drivers and ongoing professional development for existing staff.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and incidents, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Assist in the management of transportation budgets, including tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Communicate effectively with passengers, parents, and school officials to address concerns and provide updates on transportation services.
• Participate in safety meetings and contribute to the development of safety initiatives to promote a culture of safety within the transportation team.
• Support the Transportation Supervisor in emergency response planning and execution as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in transportation management or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field, with supervisory experience being a plus.
• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
• Proficient in using computer software for scheduling, reporting, and record-keeping.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record; a commercial driver's license (CDL) is a plus.
