Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily scheduling and routing of bus services to ensure timely and efficient transportation for all passengers.
- Supervise and support bus drivers, providing guidance and addressing any operational concerns or issues that arise.
- Monitor and evaluate driver performance, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
- Collaborate with the Transportation Supervisor to develop and implement training programs for new drivers and ongoing professional development for existing staff.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and incidents, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Assist in the management of transportation budgets, including tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, parents, and school officials to address concerns and provide updates on transportation services.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to the development of safety initiatives to promote a culture of safety within the transportation team.
- Support the Transportation Supervisor in emergency response planning and execution as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in transportation management or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field, with supervisory experience being a plus.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Proficient in using computer software for scheduling, reporting, and record-keeping.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record; a commercial driver's license (CDL) is a plus.
