The Department Support Assistant coordinates clerical/record keeping and scheduling functions for all Rehabilitation Services. They serve as a resource for staff, patients, families, care givers, and other direct and indirect patient care providers. Service excellence, organization and attention to detail are important skills of the ideal candidate for this role. They will consistently utilize courtesy, tact and respect with our patients and their caregivers. Must effectively utilize office equipment and the Health System's scheduling system and electronic health record.
Organizes and conducts clerical/record keeping duties and patient/client registration and re-registration within the parameters of education and skills.
Effectively and correctly schedules patient visits for the benefit of the patient/family and the team.
Assures that the customer always receives optimum service with courtesy, tact and respect by assessing and prioritize the needs /questions of patients either on the phone or in the patient waiting areas and responding appropriately.
Provides clear and concise information to the patient regarding scheduling and record keeping processes and completes all appropriate documentation to maximize financial remuneration.
Participates in the improvement of patient satisfaction, job specific processes or procedures.
Actively participates in compliance with DNV standards, both departmentally and organization wide.
Effectively uses fax machine, copier, computer and other office equipment as required.
Organizes personal time requirements and demonstrates ability to establish priorities for maximum efficiency.
