Position Summary:The Recruitment and Advising Specialist is responsible for supporting student enrollment and success by actively recruiting prospective students and providing comprehensive academic advising to incoming students. This position serves as a key point of contact from initial inquiry through first semester enrollment, helping students navigate admissions, registration, and academic planning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Recruitment & Outreach
- Represent the College at high schools, college fairs, community events, and other recruitment activities
- Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, community organizations, and workforce partners
- Conduct campus tours and information sessions for prospective students and families
- Communicate with prospective students through phone, email, text, and in-person outreach
- Maintain accurate records of prospective students using the college’s CRM
- Assist with College Preview Days, admissions events, orientations, and enrollment initiatives
Academic Advising
- Advise new students on program selection, degree requirements, and course planning
- Assist students with course registration and understanding academic policies and procedures
- Monitor student progress and provide guidance to support retention and completion
- Refer students to appropriate campus resources (tutoring, financial aid, counseling, etc.)
- Maintain accurate advising records in the student information system
- Assist with annual Career Fair and Graduation Expo
- Monitor and respond to academic early alerts by providing proactive support and interventions for at-risk students
Enrollment Support
- Assist students through the admissions and enrollment process
- Collaborate with Financial Aid, Registrar, and other departments to ensure a seamless student experience
- Support onboarding processes, including new student orientation
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of recruitment activities and advising interactions
- Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations
- Track and report enrollment and retention data as requested
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to build relationships with students, families, and community partners
- Strong problem-solving and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Understanding of academic programs, degree requirements, and transfer pathways
Work Environment
- Combination of office, campus, and off-site recruitment settings
- Some evening and weekend work required
- Travel within the service area for recruitment activities
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel and attend off-campus events
- Ability to lift and transport recruitment materials (up to 25 lbs)
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with a diverse student population
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student information systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in recruiting or academic advising in a higher education setting
- Knowledge of community college systems and student success strategies
