Job Description: The Instructor is responsible for planning, preparation and execution of classroom and/or laboratory experiences which result in learning. Instructors teach the assigned classes of students according to the overall goals and objectives of the department, advancing the students knowledge of the subject matter.
Contributes to the evaluation and revision of the curriculum incorporating evidence based learning activities directed at meeting established learning outcomes. Instructors monitor and evaluate student performance based on established grading guidelines. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Typical Functions:
- Contributes to the overall achievement of the colleges mission and goals through effective instruction and classroom management.
- Plans and prepares for assigned courses.
- Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy.
- Conducts appropriate evaluation and assessment student learning.
- Creates and maintains an environment of rapport and respect.
- Clearly establishes expectations for learning and achievement.
- Maintains up to date accurate records on attendance and student progress.
- Make referrals to college resources available to provide services or assistance to student.
- Engages in the college community for intra-professional networking and professional development.
- Keeps abreast of developments in field of expertise basing current instructional practice on recent evidence.
- Communicates learning expectation and incorporates current technology.
- Structures course activities and assignments based on learning outcomes.
- Provides student timely written and oral feedback.
- Engages in self-assessment of teaching practices and professional development needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
- Thorough knowledge in the field of expertise and teaching techniques.
- Ability to develop lesson plans and design learning activities aimed at achieving student learning outcomes.
- Communicate learning expectations through provision of structured activities and assignments.
- Ability to instruct, engage students and assess student learning.
- Familiarity with college resources available to provide instruction and services or assistance to student including instructional technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of a CoARC accredited Respiratory Care Program
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT):
- Three (3) years spent in clinical respiratory care, and
- Two (2) years as an appointed faculty member of an accredited respiratory care program or clinical preceptor
- Current and active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Must hold a current, unencumbered license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Arkansas State Medical Board.
- Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for healthcare Provider Card. ACLS, NRP, and PALS certification or must obtain within three (3) months of employment.
- Valid Arkansas Driver’s License, with good driving record
- Meet all regulatory and corporate qualifications.
OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in a health-related field or education.
- Minimum of five (5) years recent clinical practice in Acute Care, Long Term Ventilator Care, Level I Trauma as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
