Austin Public Schools seeks an experienced applicant for the position of Mental Health Practitioner
The selected candidate will work closely with an educator and mental health behavioral aide to support students who struggle to self-regulate their emotions.
The Practitioner's job duties include the planning and implementation of CTSS Skills Groups as well as individual skill based sessions for students with varying disability categories.
The Practitioner is responsible for all CTSS paperwork obligations including but not limited to: Diagnostic Assessment Addendums, Child and Adolescent Services Intensity Instrument, Individual Treatment Plans, Individual Behavior Plans and all associated documentation in the student files.
Knowledge of:
Assessment and diagnosis principles;
Behavior management principles;
Special Education principles;
Ethical standards relating to counseling;
Confidentiality rights of students;
Evidence of an understanding of school culture and environment
Apply technical skills to educational settings
MN Due Process requirements
Applicable local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations
Skill in:
Implementing behavioral intervention plans;CPI techniques;
Ability to work well with others;
Good oral and written communication skills;
Ability to adhere to ethical standards of the profession;
Ability to adhere to established rules, regulations and laws;
Ability to work cooperatively to accomplish the goals and objectives of the local education
Training and Experience: Master’s degree in behaviorial sciences, such as psychology, occupational therapy, educational counseling or social work or Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science AND three years’ of experience in the direct delivery of professional mental health care.
