The role

As a Pediatric Dentist, you will provide comprehensive care to patients 0–18 years, including Alaska beneficiaries and children eligible for Denali KidCare. You will work within a supportive team using modern technology to deliver high-quality, child-centered care.


The role includes approximately six to eight outreach clinics annually, bringing essential dental services to rural and underserved communities across Southeast Alaska.



Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat pediatric dental conditions.
  • Deliver preventive, restorative, and minimally invasive dentistry.
  • Perform full-mouth dental rehabilitation cases in the operating room.
  • See approximately 16–24 pediatric patients per clinic day.
  • Advise general providers on pediatric oral health matters.
  • Promote good dental health among children and families.
  • Follow infection-control, safety, HIPAA, and clinical protocols.
  • Supervise team members and support effective clinical operations.
  • Participate in village field trips by jet, ferry, or small aircraft.

Our new three-story Juneau dental clinic is scheduled to begin serving the community in February 2027. It will provide Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, General Dentistry, and visiting specialist services. The facility includes nine private operatories, A-dec equipment, digital radiography, Dentrix Enterprise, Dexis Radiography, and plumbed nitrous oxide.

The person

The successful Pediatric Dentist will have:

  • A DDS or DMD from an accredited program.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • An active dental license in Alaska or another US state.
  • Current Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
  • Strong diagnostic, clinical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • The patience and flexibility to care for apprehensive or uncooperative patients.
  • The physical dexterity and stamina required for clinical dentistry.

SEARHC will pay for the renewal of your Alaska dental license.
