Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Head Start and Early Head Start Director, The Educational Coach plays a critical role in ensuring student success by providing job-imbedded and ongoing professional development for teachers. The Education Coach will be responsible for assisting classroom staff in meeting the educational services as required by Head Start Performance Standards. This employee will play an essential role as an Education/Curriculum Specialist and will be the trainer of trainers in their respective area. This is designated as a Management position and is part of the Management Leadership Team.
Essential Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following list was developed through a job analysis; however, it is not exhaustive, and other duties may be required and assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Education/Curriculum Specialist; trainer of trainers
1. Provides orientation and training to new instructional staff
2. Participates actively in planning and reporting progress
3. Participates in all required mentor/coach development
4. Presents at staff development meetings and facilitate Professional Learning
Communities (PLC)
5. Conducts ongoing professional development with center teaching staff
6. Consistently analyzes teacher practice through ongoing classroom observations, data analysis, and classroom observation
7. Facilitates teacher’s understanding and implementation of teaching strategies to improve student outcomes based on instructional assessment data, program data, and classroom observation
8. Facilitates teacher reflection on and analyzing his/her practice and reviewing student outcomes to inform instruction and enhance student achievement
9. Understands and is able to articulate to the teaching staff the program curriculum and instruction
10. Creates detailed coaching plans, which include focused goals and measure of success
11. Supports teacher’s achievement of goals by using coaching strategies that gradually release responsibilities for implementing instruction practices of the teacher
12. Plans and implements comprehensive instruction support designed to support instructional staff
13. Provides clear, direct and supportive feedback to the teacher based on analysis of practice
14. Maintains required recordkeeping, agendas, minutes, and sign-in sheets
15. Plans and coordinates Teacher Learning Collaborating (TLC) Meetings
16. Ensures program quality by implementing a research-based model for supporting the teachers
17. Participates in on-site monitoring reviews
18. Attends recommended training programs, conferences, and organizations that promote professional growth and improvement of early childhood education
19. Establishes and maintains a positive collaborative relationship with delegate agencies and the grantee staff
20. Performs job assignment safely for the purpose of protecting people and property
21. Monitors the indoor and outdoor environment at all sites to ensure that state and federal guidelines are met
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Providing Support to the teaching staff; assisting classroom staff in meeting the educational services as required by the Head Start
Performance Standards.
1. Assists in meeting classroom ratios in the absence of staff members and when a substitute is not available
2. Assures compliance with federal, state, CCL, local, and district laws, regulations, policies and procedures related to the Head Start and Early Head
Start programs
3. Assists teachers with lesson planning
4. Assists classroom staff in provision of special needs services
5. Assists in student file reviews to ensure that records are maintained as required
6. Assists with classroom reviews and monitoring to ensure programs mandates and requirements are met
7. Assists in the delivery of the developmental screening and assessment
8. Completes classroom visits to follow-up with staff and to monitor for understanding and implementation of concepts taught
9. Performs other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

12. Recognize and effectively respond to the various physical, intellectual, and emotional needs of young children
13. Effectively supervise children in various activities.

15. Ability to maintain composure in emergency situations and administer first aid for minor injuries and/or accidents
16. Communication skills to effectively communicate internally and externally, both orally and in writing and maintain effective working relationships and open communication with families and staff.
17. Verbal skills to communicate effectively with supervisor, co-workers, and public.
18. Writing skills to clearly and neatly complete routine forms records, and correspondence using correct English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Possess a bachelor’s degree in education or related field from and accredited university is required.
2. A minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience.
3. A minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience in an educational setting
4. Possess a current and valid driver’s license.
5. Ability to work nonstandard hours.
6. Ability to travel out of town and locally.
7. Ability to pass all DHR required background checks to include, but not limited to, CA/N Clearance, ABI/FBI check, Medical Physical, MVR, Pre-
Employment Drug Screen, and TB test.
8. Possess a valid Teaching certificate
Physical Demands
The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities; recurring lifting and carrying preschool children and equipment. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds; hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment; kneel, bend at the waist, and sit on the floor in order to be at the child’s height; reach overhead above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and supplies; driving a vehicle to conduct work; seeing to conduct inspection of data; lifting of record boxes; and stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling in activities with small children; understand speech at normal levels. Generally the job requires 40 percent sitting, 40 percent walking, and 20 percent standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, a generally hazard-free environment, and in a clean atmosphere. Office environment: frequent interruptions. Observing children at play: drive a vehicle to conduct work, visit other school sites; travel to other organizations and companies, meetings and/or workshops.
