SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (IT)
CLASSIFICATION (FLSA): EXEMPT
SALARY RANGE: ($70k) - ($81k) per year DOE.
REPORTS TO: IT MANAGER
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Systems Administrator will administer, maintain, and secure the company’s servers, networks, cloud-based services and overall technology infrastructure, with emphasis on NIST cybersecurity best practices. Responsibilities include managing and configuration of LAN/WAN, firewalls, switching, virtualization, and cloud applications, while also supporting business applications, databases, and backups. Daily tasks also include monitoring alerts, patching, account management, and IT service requests to ensure reliable and secure operations across all systems and devices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / DUTIES
- Support Servers, LANs, WANs, Internet, Firewall
- Ensure the design of the systems to allow all components to work properly together with best cybersecurity standards.
- Support and maintain network and system security - 2FA, group policies, access controls using best cybersecurity practices.
- Monitor infrastructure systems, networks and ensure best cyber security standards.
- Evaluate and modify IT infrastructure performance.
- Create and evaluate user accounts with emphasis on NIST recommended cybersecurity best practices.
- Maintain the integrity of the network, servers, firewall, VPN, and system deployments per best cyber security practice with emphasis on NIST recommended cybersecurity best practices.
- Configuration of security appliances firewall and VPN under best cybersecurity standards with emphasis on NIST recommended cybersecurity best practices.
- Assists and responds to end-user inquiries (email, phone, remote, in-person, onsite) and assists in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with a friendly presence and helpful demeanor.
- Works with lower tier technicians and advises on or is assigned escalated issues/tickets for resolution.
- Works alongside the IT Manager and IT Staff, with initiative to make recommendations for future tech upgrades.
- Contribute to and maintain IT knowledgebase.
- Administer laptop and desktop computers, printers, IP phones, company iPhones,
- Install and monitor software deployment, security updates and patches with emphasis on NIST recommended cybersecurity best practices on all networked systems.
- Must adhere to promote ALL company cybersecurity policies.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
- MUST have solid experience with MS Server Operating Systems, Active Directory, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, Security, Hyper-V, and MS365 Exchange, Azure/Entra administration.
- Backups: Solid real-world experience with backup concepts, configuration, and management of backups.
- Firewalls: Administration and management experience with configuration,
- Management and configuration of switching technologies.
- Networks: Experience in WAN/LAN, WLAN, VPN, Anti-Virus/malware endpoint applications or similar.
- Experience with email-filtering applications a plus
- Experience in Cybersecurity or Infosec best practices-emphasis preferred.
- Experience, management and configuration with iSCSI (required)
- Windows PowerShell experience a plus
- Knowledge of NIST 800-171/CMMC 2.0 a plus

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY
The System Administrator has no supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position is active and requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, climbing, and crouching. Along with such movements, employees should have the ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

POSITION TYPE / HOURS OF WORK
This is an exempt full-time position, 40 hours per week. Schedule is Monday- Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. After hours/weekend work may ocasionally be required based on production or project needs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Preferred four-year degree in computer sciences, technology degree, or minimum 5-6 years relevant experience in IT systems administration or infrastructure role.
- Solid understanding of Windows Servers, virtualization, network, and firewall technologies, Azure/Entra. (MS Certification preferred)
- Real-world experience with MS365/Azure-Entra/Intune administration
- Real-world experience with MS Server – AD, DNS, DHCP, firewall and vpn administration
- Must be able to speak and understand English.
