Responsibilities
- Manage the entire voucher process, including eligibility determination, recertification, and issuance of housing assistance benefits in compliance with HUD (Housing and Urban Development) regulations.
- Conduct thorough interviews with clients to assess their needs and provide guidance on available housing options within program guidelines.
- Collaborate with landlords, property management companies, and community partners to facilitate lease agreements and ensure compliance with Fair Housing regulations and Landlord-tenant law.
- Utilize property management tools such as OneSite to track client data, payment histories, and case notes efficiently.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to clients facing housing instability or high-risk situations, including those with mental health conditions or substance use issues.
- Maintain detailed case management records while ensuring confidentiality and adherence to social work standards.
- Educate clients about their rights under Fair Housing laws and assist them in navigating complex housing assistance programs like LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) properties.
Skills
- Strong negotiation skills to coordinate between clients and landlords effectively.
- Experience working with culturally diverse communities and underserved populations.
- Knowledge of Section 8, LIHTC, HUD regulations, and Fair Housing laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and property management tools such as OneSite.
- Ability to handle crisis situations with calmness, empathy, and professionalism through crisis management techniques.
- Excellent client communication skills to explain program details clearly and compassionately.
- Background in social services or social work with experience supporting individuals experiencing homelessness or high-risk populations.
