A leading chemical manufacturer is searching for an experienced Site Director to oversee a flagship production facility in Houston. The organization provides critical chemical products to key industries such as transportation, water, agriculture, mining, electronics, and more.
In this role you will be responsible and accountable for plant personnel in the region of >130 FTEs, all capital assets, and the achievement of site and company-wide strategic objectives. The successful candidate must have a strong focus on HSE and be the driving force behind operational improvements at the facility.
Although you will manage day-to-day operations of the plant, the position requires a strong change management professional who can identify areas for improvement and implement both short-term and longer-term strategic solutions. Creating a culture of safety, accountability and quality is paramount.
The Site Director role requires a strong servant leader who sets the vision for the team, and personally champions initiatives around safety, production, human resources, and quality. You will ensure effective processes are established and maintained in order to achieve local and corporate goals and address any issues around discipline in the team.
If you have previous experience leading a plant in a process manufacturing environment such as Chemicals, Plastics, Water, or Oil & Gas, are a strong safety advocate, and have demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement of a production facility, then this could be a great next step for you.
For this position, it is essential you have:
- 15 Years’ experience in a chemical production plant or refinery.
- Previous experience as a Site Director/Plant Manager/GM/Site Head, leading teams of 100 .
- Ideally Degree in Mechanical/Process/Electrical Engineering, or related subjects, or hands-on industry experience within Engineering disciplines.
- A background with a focus on Maintenance and Reliability would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated success in building a strong safety culture, with tangible achievements in process and occupational safety, as well as environmental impact.
- Track record in site turnarounds and transformation projects.
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions, and willingness to oversee a high-value, 24/7 operation.
- Previous exposure and solid understanding of complex logistical processes around chemicals or commodity materials. Knowledge of truck, rail and barge modalities ideally.
- High EQ and people-oriented leadership capability. Must remain visible and approachable by employees at all levels, whilst operating at a high level and reporting to the Senior Leadership Team.
- Strong knowledge of labor relations/human resources for large workforces.
- Financial acumen at a site-leadership level is essential to understand the impact of the site on the overall organization.
