Description: The South Windsor Board of Education is seeking a dynamic and experienced security professional to direct, plan, and implement a comprehensive security, crisis management, and emergency response program for the protection and safety of students and staff within South Windsor Public Schools. The Director of School Safety and Security will interface regularly with district administration to ensure a proactive approach to the safety and security of students, employees, visitors, and assets. The Director will also assist the district with residency investigations and compliance.
South Windsor is a diverse community of approximately 27,000 citizens and more than 4,900 public school students. The district values this diversity, and has worked to create a districtwide culture of equity and social consciousness. SWPS is comprised of four elementary schools, one middle school (6-8), and one high school (9-12), all of which cultivate and support culturally responsive classrooms and learning communities. The ongoing work of our teachers and staff includes the creation of enriching experiences that expand the depth of knowledge for students beyond today’s classroom in order to produce graduates with the 21st century skills needed to make them college or career ready.

Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have previous experience in school safety and security planning; at least seven years of successful experience with a law enforcement agency; coursework in criminal justice or a related field; hold a valid driver's license; and be certified in CPR and First Aid. Supervisory experience is preferred. The candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well with students, staff, administration, and members of the school community. The ability to work a flexible work schedule is required.
Compensation: This position has a 205-day work year, and offers competitive salary commensurate with experience.
