Job Summary:
As a Inclusion Coordinator at South Windsor Parks & Recreation Summer Camps you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and inclusive environment for campers. Your primary responsibility will be to support campers with behavioral challenges, ensuring their safety and promoting positive social interactions. The Inclusion Coordinator will work closely with camp staff, parents, and other professionals to implement behavior management strategies and support the overall well-being of campers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Behavioral Assessment: Conduct assessments to identify behavioral challenges and develop individualized behavior plans for campers.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with camp staff, counselors, and parents to gather information and implement consistent strategies for behavior management.
- Training: Provide training for camp staff on effective behavior management techniques, including prevention and intervention strategies.
- Support: Offer direct support to campers with behavioral challenges, helping them participate in camp activities while addressing specific needs.
- Crisis Intervention: Be prepared to handle crisis situations and provide appropriate intervention when necessary.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of behavior assessments, plans, and interventions.
- Communication: Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding camper progress, challenges, and strategies for continued support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or a related field preferred, related work experience accepted
- Experience working with children or adolescents with behavioral challenges.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and positive behavior support.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented camp environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification required - will be provided as a part of training
