What are the responsibilities and job description for the SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST - TEMPORARY position at South Whittier School District?
Essential Duties:
- Participate in the Student Success Team (SST), School-wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS), Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Crisis Response Teams, and other related teams/meetings.
- Conduct psychological screening and or detailed individual evaluations of students.
- Assess and make appropriate recommendations to address student learning difficulties as well as social, emotional, adaptive needs and services.
- Conduct functional behavioral assessments, prepare behavioral intervention plans, and develop strategies to assist children with evident behavioral difficulties.
- Conduct and interprets initial and triennial psychoeducational evaluations.
- Provide assistance and counsel to support teams writing or revising student individual educational programs (IEP).
- Schedule and conduct re-evaluations, including observations and reviewing reports, reassessments, follow-ups, progress monitoring, writing summaries and modify programs as appropriate.
- Consult with staff concerning appropriate learning strategies and positive behavior interventions to support students’ access to instruction and to make academic progress in the least restrictive environment.
- Offer support and counsel to students in either individual or group sessions.
- Provide consultation and assistance to teachers regarding attainment of individual educational programs objectives and goals for children with special needs.
- Provide assistance to students and staff in crisis.
- Provide support and professional development for teachers, instructional assistants, parents and others as required through individual consultation, small or large groups.
- Collaborate with school sites to promote effective prevention, intervention and case management.
- IEP case management and program development.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
