We are seeking an experienced Solar Permit Technician to join our in-house team and play a key role in ensuring smooth and accurate permitting operations.
Position Overview
The Solar Permit Technician is responsible for preparing, submitting, and tracking permit applications for residential and commercial solar projects. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication with jurisdictions, and the ability to work closely with design and project management teams to ensure projects move efficiently through the permitting process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit complete permit applications to city and county jurisdictions.
- Review plan sets, engineering, and project documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Track and manage the status of all submitted permits; follow up with AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) as needed.
- Coordinate corrections and resubmittals promptly.
- Maintain organized digital records of all permitting documents and communications.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, designers, and field teams to ensure permit readiness and timely approvals.
- Stay current on local and state permitting requirements, code updates, and jurisdictional changes.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in solar permitting or a related field (required).
- Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial solar permitting processes.
- Familiarity with building, electrical, and solar codes.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient in digital permitting portals and CRM/project tracking systems.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
