POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is accountable for training all new Nutrition Services employees in District 833 and for providing additional training for current staff as needed. Primary emphasis includes training core tasks, duties and responsibilities of newly hired Nutrition Service Workers. Responsible for training cashiers, back-ups, assistant managers and managers of all levels.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provide instruction, guidance and training for any employees working for Nutrition Services using active listening and encourage, acknowledge and validate the trainee’s experience.
- Modify training methods and techniques to accommodate the learning styles of employees.
- Ensure the comfort of employees by answering questions and providing tours.
- Develop curriculum and lesson plans as needed.
- Ensure trainee’s training experience is relevant to his/her individual position in the kitchen.
- Substitute for any position within the kitchen as needed and adhere to job functions in the assigned position.
- Maintain up-to-date manuals including the Office Assistant Guide, HACCP manual and other training manuals.
- Develop and present training materials for the Back to School workshop.
- Conduct yearly SFA (Student Financial Assistance) audits and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) Bi-Annual Verification.
- Knowledge of all SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) and health codes.
- Assist in school kitchens when not scheduled to train.
- Support and promote the meal programs offered at the site.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
- High School Degree with at least two years food preparation experience or two year Technical College Training with two years experience. Internal candidates must achieve at least 80% on the Manager’s test.
- Food Managers Certificate from the State of Minnesota within 6 months of employment.
- Completion of Building Blocks for Great Trays within 6 months of employment.
- Completing of ServSafe allergen training within 6 months of employment.
- Knowledge of food production, employee supervision, keyboarding skills, math skills and creating and participating in a team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment and independently.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform routine computer functions, including email, Internet navigation, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and relevant food service software applications.
- Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to pass Nutrition Services Fitness for Duty tests.
- Ability to provide quality customer service to students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships
